How To Become a Super Saver

Tips to Become a Super Saver

Jacob Merkley is a full-time blogger who started in the accounting, financial, and retirement realms before switching to working online.  Now he focuses on teaching others about Life Skills that put YOU in control, including the important principles of money management.  He blogs over at PowerOverLife.

It’s a new year, which means that you have a new chance to stretch yourself and become a better human being in 2017.  If you are looking for a new year’s resolutions, may I suggest that it be about how much you save this year?

I don’t know if you knew this or not, but we have a SERIOUS money problem in the United States.

Here’s the proof:

  1. At the end of Fiscal Year 2017, the US Federal Government debt is estimated to be $23.3 trillion.
  2. 26% of adults have no savings; another 36% haven’t saved for retirement yet (Credit Donkey).
  3. There is 3.72 Trillion of consumer debt outstanding (October, 2016 Federal Reserve).

Not only has the government put us in a bad spot…but we, the people, are putting ourselves in a bad spot by not saving money.  To top it off, we are going into massive amounts of debt to fund our current lifestyles.

Do you realize how much 3.72 trillion is?   That’s enough money to buy the entire Apple Company, as well as all the sports leagues (not just a few teams… entire sports leagues… and yes, all of them).  You could also scratch those two purchases and put 25 million people through 4 years of college, at $30,000 per head (Fox Business).

My point here is that collectively, we all stink at saying no to things that we want!  I urge you to consider where you are at with your finances this year.  Are you currently saving money?  Are you saving money, but you’d like to kick it up a notch?

I want to help you become a SUPERHUMAN SAVER!  Here are my tips:

Tip #1 – Learn to Budget

Tip #2 – Make S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Tip #3 – Look at Your Expenses

Tip #4 – Avoid Spending

If you can do those four things, I really believe you can start saving money the way that you want to.  Making strides towards your financial goals will really start your year off right, don’t you think?

Thank you so much Jacob!  What better time then now to kick start your savings for a better financial future.
