School Lunch Tips
To Save Time and Money
School is officially back in session in our neck of the woods, if it hasn’t started yet in your area, it will creep on you before you know it. I have put together some school lunch tips to help all parents out there who run around every morning trying to get it all done and to save you all some money in the process.
Purchase a durable lunch bag or box
I am all for saving money but sometimes you got to spend a bit more on quality items that will stand the test of time and children. You can purchase a lower quality bag but you will probably have to buy another one in a few months and so on. Which won’t save you any money in the long run.
Don’t buy juice boxes or pouches
Buying juice boxes or pouches is a big waste of money. You are basically paying for the packaging which end up in the trash along with your money. Instead buy you children’s favorite juices by the liter or gallon, which is less expensive. Then buy a few sturdy leak proof reusable bottles.
Create your own single size servings
Do not buy any prepackaged single serving size of anything. Just like juice boxes, it is a big waste of money. Instead buy items in bulk or at least regular family sized packages and make your own single size servings. Invest in a variety of different sized sturdy containers to fit the bill for whatever you are packing for lunch.
Prepare ahead of time
Set some time aside on the weekend to prep as much as possible, such as packaging items in single serving size. Prepare and pack your child’s lunch the night before and put their lunch bag/box in the fridge.
Keep it Healthy
Remember that healthy food not only fuels the body but also fuels the mind. Always send your child to school with health snacks and lunch to keep them in tip top shape and fueled all day long.
