Free Tools to Maintain Your Financial Health

Free Tools To Maintain Your Financial Health

Maintaining your financial health can be a daunting task. It can be very time-consuming to keep track of all your accounts, find ways to save some money and compare different services that will keep you on top of your financial future.

In this post I share with you three of my go to tools that help me keep on top of every aspect of my finances.  The best part about it is that they are all FREE!!  So read on to find out how to easily stay on top of your finances.

If you’ve read some of my posts, or any personal finance posts for that matter, then you should know that it all starts with having a good budget. Your budget is a blueprint to your financial future, it is so important to create a budget and to stick to it to make sure you stay on the right path financially.

I realize that a lot of people do not even like to think of creating a budget.  Maybe it’s because it can be depressing or it’s hard to deal with.  Just know that you really need a budget to take control of your financial future.

There are plenty of free tools out there to help you create a budget that you can take advantage of to make the process easier.  I personally use a free google sheet template for my budget, you can find it here.  The goal is to create a budget you can live with so you will stay on track.

Credit Sesame

Credit Sesame is my go to tool to make sure that my credit score is on the right track.  Your credit score affects so many aspects of your life.  You may not even realize how much.  It affects how much you pay in interest on loans and credit cards. It affects how much you are charged for insurance premiums. It can affect whether your get that job you are so wanting or even renting that great apartment that you are dying for.

It is imperative to your financial stability to keep your credit score intact.  What I love about having a Credit Sesame account is that first of all, it is totally FREE!! But in addition, it shows you what you need to work on to improve your credit score.

Credit Sesame actually shows you how you grade on each of the five factors that affects your credit. So it is super simple to know what you need to work on to get your score up.

These are the 5 factors that make up your credit score

  • Payment History
  • Credit Usage
  • Credit Age
  • Account Mix
  • Credit Inquires

Credit Sesame also monitors activity and sends you alerts when there are changes that affect your credit score. Which will help you stay on top of whatever might be going on. They also offer recommendations for better credit cards, debt consolidation options and refinancing to save you money based on your personal situation.

Personal Capital

Personal Capital is a great FREE personal finance service that helps you manage all your accounts in one place.  You can add your bank accounts, credit card accounts, loans and retirement accounts among others so you can see your total financial picture in one place.

It allows you to track your spending, saving, cash flow and how your retirement and investments are doing all in one place.  And you can get free investment checkups to see how your investments are performing and get great advice to improve your retirement strategy.

What is great about Personal Capital is that they have access to just about all your accounts.  I was even able to add my small town local bank to my account list.  I have tried to add these to other personal finance software and was not able to locate these accounts so they were pretty much useless to me.

In short, you should give these tools a try to see how they can help you maintain your financial health.  You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain!!
