Shop for clothing at thrift stores and consignment shops. There are plenty of gently worn clothing, even designer brands, at a fraction of the cost of buying brand new.  This is especially helpful if you have small children.  They grow out of their clothing so quickly that you don’t even get your money’s worth when you by them new.  There are also consignment shops online such as Swap and  Thread Up that sells higher end clothing in great condition for so much less. (If you sign up for Thread up through my link you will get an automatic $10 credit)

Have meat free dinners a few times a week. Meat is one of the biggest grocery expense for most families. I recently went on a regular weekly grocery trip and purchase four meat items, which is not that much.  After looking at my receipt I realize that those few items totaled over 25% of my entire grocery bill. Again, do a google search of Meet Free recipes, pick a few new recipes to try out every week.  You family won’t even notice that you are saving money.

I wrote a post on How to Save Hundreds on Groceries that can also help keep some money in your wallet.

These are just a few simple changes you can make to get started. Once you have these small changes down pat, try implementing other changes.  Before you know it you will see your savings start grow faster that you thought was possible.
