Saving money can be very difficult. Especially if you are in debt or are you are living paycheck to paycheck. You think to yourself “how can I save anything when I am having a hard time making ends meet?”
Even if you are in these situations, you can save money. You need to follow a budget and be determined to make changes in your life.
Here are 5 easy money saving strategies you that you can implement today to get started.Once you get these down, start adding a few more things to your list and before you know it, you’ll be in great financial shape.
Shop for clothing at thrift stores and consignment shops
There are plenty of gently worn clothing, even designer brands, at a fraction of the cost of buying brand new. This is especially helpful if you have small children.
They grow out of their clothing so quickly that you don’t even get your money’s worth when you by them new. There are also consignment shops online such as Swap and Thread Up that sells higher end clothing in great condition for so much less. Take your lunch to work
Instead of buying it out every day. Make extra for dinner and take left overs to work for lunch. You can even freeze individual portions of your favorite meals.
This way you are not eating the same thing two days in a row but you will still have the convenience of packing a quick and cheap meal.
Learn how to DIY
There are tons of products that you can make yourself at home that are so much cheaper and better for you and the environment. Do a simply google search and you will get thousands of results on how to make all kind of products. You could literally save thousands a year by spending a bit of your time DIYing.

Skip the high priced fancy coffee
Make and bring your own fancy coffee to work. This can be really hard for those dye hard coffee addicts, but it could also save you $50 to $100 or even more a week depending on how many coffee runs you make in a day.
Figure out how much you can save in one year and you might just fall on your back in shock. If your excuse is that regular coffee just doesn’t taste as good then let me tell you there are plenty of flavored coffees, creamers and other products out there. Try to recreate your favorites with these so much less expensive alternatives.
Have meat free dinners a few times a week
Meat is one of the biggest grocery expense for most families. I recently went on a regular weekly grocery trip and purchase four meat items, which is not that much. After looking at my receipt I realize that those few items totaled over 25% of my entire grocery bill.
Find a a handful of great meat free recipes and incorporate those into you weekly meal plan. You family won’t even notice that you are saving money.
These are just a few simple changes you can make to get started. Once you have these small changes down pat, try implementing other changes. Before you know it you will see your savings start grow faster that you thought was possible.
